Alexandra Wayllace, Lecturer

University of Missouri-Columbia, Ph.D.

Faculty Member Alexandra Wayllace is a lecturer and lab coordinator in the Division of Engineering. She is interested in designing and conducting experiments to measure different soil properties for saturated and unsaturated soils

Alexandra obtained her B.S. in Civil Engineering and her M.S. in Systems Engineering from Colorado School of Mines. She earned her Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia (UMC). Examples of her previous projects include measuring strength parameters of unsaturated soils (Landslide Assessment, Monitoring, and Research USGS Geologic Hazards Team in Golden, Colorado), investigating macro-scale engineering behavior in expansive clays as a consequence of crystalline swelling (Petroleum Research Fund), developing a numerical model to assess the effectiveness and behavior of artificial soil as an evapo-transpirative cover (Portland Cement Association and MoDOT), and developing and testing a laboratory system capable of measuring hydraulic conductivity and soil water characteristic curvessimultaneously using the constant flow method (funded by N.S.F.). Her work in these areas has been published in the Geotechnical Testing Journal (ASTM) and in conference proceedings.
