Dr. King's research and teaching focuses on merging modeling and automated measurement which leads to several collaborations with other faculty. Some recent projects include:
- integrating automated measurement and modeling to provide information and evaluate alternatives for the design of NASA's lunar outpost;
- machine-health and environmental monitoring with FPGA and real-time based rugged, compact computing systems; and
- modeling and automatic measurement of airflow in abandoned mines that provide habitat for endangered species of bats.
The research has been integrated into education through development of the Multidisciplinary Engineering Laboratory Courses, the Computer Aided Engineering course, and numerous outreach courses.
